Artistic Direction

The Kelowna Community Chorus is fortunate to have very talented and accomplished artists
and musicians instructing and inspiring us, and keeping our voices finely tuned.


Susan Skinner - Artistic Director

Susan Skinner began her vocal training at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Music and finished her Masters of Vocal Performance program.

She sang as a professional opera singer throughout Germany, the USA and Canada, earning critical acclaim for her vocal skills.

During her Master studies, she studied Choral Conducting from Rodney Eichenberger and has kept up her conducting training with summer programs with Mr. Eichenberger and others.

In addition to taking her Unity Choir to Carnegie Hall, NYC, she is currently a Voice Teacher at Wentworth Music and Musical Director of Kelowna Community Chorus.

Susan loves working with singers of all ages, helping them explore the exciting world of choral music while having a lot of fun in the process.


Olya Comaniuk - Accompanist

Olya Comaniuk is a professional pianist, accompanist, composer and piano instructor living in Kelowna, British Columbia. She holds a Master’s Degree in Music and Piano Performance of Kustanai State University of Kazakhstan. Olya Comaniuk participated and organized multiple recitals and contests. She has been a accompanist in music pieces involving violin, cello, saxophone and other instruments including jazz bands, Choirs and Strings Ensemble.

Ms. Comaniuk has 35 years teaching experience within private lessons and master classes settings. Ms. Comaniuk and her students participated in international Piano Contests in Kazakhstan. She organized workshops on pedagogical music subjects. Her students have been the recipients of numerous awards.

Ms. Comaniuk is a talented and creative professor skilled in finding an individual approach to every student, teaching various styles of music, like classical, pop fusion, rock and jazz.
